  • PokerStars Live Events

A couple weeks ago we discussed why you should get PokerStars rakeback when participating in online games. Now I intend to mention some popular brick-and-mortar tournaments sponsored by PokerStars. Every year a huge number of live tournament series are sponsored by PokerStars, and there are always online satellites for those that cannot afford to buy-in directly.

European Poker Tour London just finished up. If you worked hard enough to become a PokerStars Elite player, you had the option to play in the Main Event for part of your PokerStars rakeback perks. Taking place from September 29th and October 4th, everything went very smoothly. The Main Event required a £5,250 buy-in, and the total prize pool ended up being £4,112,800 with 848 registered players. There were many players in the field that won their seats on their PokerStars download. The most successful PokerStars player in the field ended up being Arturn Wasek; he finished in 4th place for £240,000.

If you appreciate charities and helping the less fortunate, then you have another reason to endorse the PokerStars marketing code. At the end of the series in London, a charity event took place between October 2nd and October 4th. It was a £100+10+10 buy-in, with the extra £10 going to Cancer Research UK. It was a re-entry event with a guaranteed prize pool of £100,000. Those that couldn’t travel to London could still donate to the cause on their download free poker client. They just had to transfer funds to the user ID “CancerUK”.

The Belgian Open Poker Championship is taking place now, between October 9th and October 17th. Four days have been dedicated to Day 1, and the days you don’t play are filled with smaller tournaments. Players have the option of six total events. Female fans of money poker sites might want to leave their computers for the day to play a special Ladies only freezeout on October 17th for €110.

If you live in North America and play on US poker sites, you can go to Atlantic City for the United States Poker Championship. It costs $5,250 to enter the Main Event, but if cannot afford it, you can win a seat online. If you don’t want to do that, there are still a bunch of tournaments with buy-ins below $600. This series has a Ladies event too, and the buy-in is $300.

Sometimes we need to leave the poker downloads and the free poker no downloads behind and just play some traditional live poker. If you want to become known in the poker community, your best bet might be to win a large scale brick-and-mortar event. The next time you feel the poker urge, maybe take a break from your computer and head over to your local casino instead.
